SSS Plastic Material

Imagen
Hi everybody. Today I'm going to show you how to make a realistic plastic material like this: Firstly, I recommend you to see this video tutorial about how to setup a SSS node in Cycles made by @pauljs75. The overall setup of the yellow plastic is as follows: I have used two SSS nodes to get my base SSS material. I have used the method explained in the video tutorial. The color of the SSS node is the base color of the shader. The color of the RGB node is the scattered color. (I should have created a node group with this setup) Also I have added a diffuse node to reduce the noise of my material. Finally I have added some basic glossiness to my material The red plastic is slightly different. Here you can see the node detail: As the SSS materials are very noise, I strongly recommend you to use compositing and bilateral blur nodes to get a good render. You can find some video tutorials explaining this on CGCoockie: Using Blender’s B...

Plastic for Appliances Material

Hi everybody. Today I'm going to show you a simple material, plastic for home or computer appliances. Hola a todos. Hoy voy a mostraros un material simple, plástico para aparatos domésticos o de informática. This is my first approach:  Ésta es mi primera aproximación: The material is basic: a mix between Diffuse and Glossy shaders. I have used a Facing factor for mixing, because I think it works better with this kind of materials which are not very glossy. As you know Facing reflections only are shown when you see the surface in a grazing angles. Also I have added a Voronoi Texture to get a rough effect on the surface. ...

Plastic Material

This material is made with Blender and Cycles. I have tried to make a kind of coated glossy node. I have mixed a diffuse and a glossy node to get a specular material. The color of the glossy node will be the color of the specular reflections. I have used RGB (0.8,0.8,0.8). It is not recommended to use (1,1,1), because of it can produce fireflies. The roughness of the glossy node will determine how sharp the mirror reflections are. Then I have mixed this with another glossy node, but this time I have use a fresnel node as mixing factor. My aim is getting a coating above the material. For plastic this coating is weak, but I'm going to reuse this node setup for other materials. These are the values for plastic: I will reuse this node group in my next material. Bye
